“Legacy of the Voronoveli” begins today: the first lines of a saga about three brothers, an ancient bloodline, and a secret waiting for generations
One missed call, three brothers raised never to ask too much about their family’s past, and an inheritance that does not care whether they are ready to accept it. Today, the first pages of “The First Midnight” begin the saga of the Voronoveli.
“The phone rang at 11:17 p.m.”
Today, it is only the first sentence. A single phone call in an ordinary Kharkiv apartment, cold tea beside a laptop, rain beyond the window, and Mark staring at his father’s name on the screen — without answering. He does not yet know that sometimes ignoring one call is enough to divide an entire life into everything that came before and everything that follows. With this moment, the first pages of “Legacy of the Voronoveli” are being written today: a new saga about family, power, memory, old secrets, and things that perhaps should never have been awakened.
The first novel is titled “The First Midnight.” Its story is only beginning, but one thing is already clear: this will not be a tale about chosen heroes who spent their lives waiting for a grand destiny. Quite the opposite. Mark, Egor, and Danylo Voronoveli have long been living separate lives. They argue, drift apart, avoid unnecessary questions about their family’s past, and have little desire to return to the place they once left behind.
There has always been a great deal their family refused to discuss. The old house. Their grandmothers. Locked doors. Their father’s strange caution. The reason certain questions could make adults suddenly fall silent. The children grew up, but the secrets remained, and perhaps someone had been counting on exactly that — on the three brothers never learning to ask the right questions.
Then, one evening, their father calls Mark. He calls again, and afterward there is only the sound of fire on the other end of the line. From that moment, the ordinary lives of the three brothers begin to collapse faster than they can understand what is happening. Two deaths, a return home, a meeting beside the same grave, and an inheritance none of them asked for will force the Voronoveli to confront not only their family’s past, but one another.
Because the central mystery of “The First Midnight” is not simply what their parents were hiding. The more dangerous question is why they were hiding it specifically from them.
What does the name Voronoveli truly mean? Why does the old estate obey rules the brothers have never known? What is supposed to happen when the elders of the bloodline die? Why can certain things not simply be inherited alongside keys, documents, and property? And why must the decision facing the three brothers before the first midnight be made by all of them together?
Magic in the coming novel will not arrive in a beautiful flash and offer the heroes greater power. It will enter through prohibitions, old letters, unexplained rules, suspicious coincidences, and events that are initially much easier to blame on exhaustion, grief, or fear. Every answer will uncover another question: who created these rules, what were they meant to protect the Voronoveli from, and what happens now that the protection has begun to fail?
Yet “Legacy of the Voronoveli” will not be built on mystery alone. At its heart, this is the story of three brothers: the eldest, accustomed to carrying responsibility for everyone; the middle brother, who hears and notices more than he says; and the youngest, who is often the first to step toward something before anyone understands its rules. They are not an ideal team. They know how to argue better than they know how to agree, they know each other’s weakest points, and they carry enough childhood resentment to have every reason to walk away from one another for good.
Their inheritance gives them a different condition: together — or not at all.
Today, this story does not yet contain the dozens of Great Houses, the Grand Council, ancient alliances, enemies, and battles that will one day transform the scale of the Voronoveli world. Today, there are only the first pages: a phone call, three brothers, a burning house, an old family name, and the growing sense that behind a door their family kept locked for years, something has already awakened.
This is how “Legacy of the Voronoveli” begins. And perhaps the most dangerous question of the entire saga has already been asked, even if the brothers have not yet heard it clearly: what does a person truly inherit with their blood — power, a debt, or someone else’s unfinished war?
The first lines have been written, and there is not much time left before the first midnight.
